[November 2, 2017, Edgewood MD] A warrant has been issued for a woman’s arrest and another is recovering after a cutting in Edgewood Wednesday afternoon.
On November 1, 2017, at approximately 4:18 p.m., deputies assigned to the Southern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 800 block of Windstream Way in Edgewood for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Katrice Belen, 42, of Edgewood, suffering from a cut on her hand. Medics treated Belen’s injuries on scene. Belen refused transport to the hospital.
The initial investigation indicates, on Wednesday, Belen and a male were outside a residence in the 800 block of Windstream Way when they were approached by a female, known to them. At that time, the female began physically assaulting Belen. At one point during the altercation, the female suspect retrieved a machete and began swinging it at Belen and the male, cutting Belen’s hand. The altercation ended when deputies arrived on scene.
Detectives from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division were requested to assist in the investigation. Investigators from the Forensic Services Unit responded to collect and preserve physical evidence in support of the investigation.
Deputies took the female suspect in to custody and transported her to Harford Memorial Hospital for evaluation. She is charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault and other related charges. A warrant has been issued for her arrest, she will be identified once deputies serve the warrant.
