Traffic Fatalities
Largest Six-Month Increase In Traffic Crash Deaths Ever Recorded During First Half Of 2021
Welcome to another edition of #traffictiptuesday. Recently released federal data has shown yet ANOTHER increase in traffic fatalities through the third quarter of 2021. While the exact numbers are not readily available, it shows that more than 20,000 people died in motor vehicle crash on U.S. roads in 2021. This is nearly a 20% increase from the same time period in 2020.
If I have said it once, I have said it ONE THOUSAND times. No appointment, or job, or meeting is worth your life. Aggressive driving leads to nothing good. Distracted driving leads to crashes. Impaired driving is just plain dumb.
The Maryland Highway Safety Office has been running a #bethedriver campaign for quite some time. The challenge is for you to be the driver who makes good choices. Leave early take your time…put down the phone…call a ride share. Do whatever it takes to keep yourself and other drivers around you safe.
Visit https://zerodeathsmd.gov/road-safety/ for more information on what you can do to keep our roadways safe.
As always, if you have a question or concern, please leave it in the comments below. Also, if you have a specific concern with unsafe driving in your area, such as speeding, drag racing, etc., give us a call, send an email, or reach out on social media. Until next week, slow down, pay attention, wear your seatbelt, and drive safely
