Harford County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are investigating, and a man is recovering, after a shooting in Bel Air early Friday morning.
At approximately 12:59 a.m., deputies assigned to the Southern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 200 block of Foxhall Drive in Bel Air for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located Tyler Reid, 28, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper body. Deputies immediately began rendering first aid until the arrival of medics. He was transported to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment of what is believed to be a non-life threatening injury.
The investigation was assumed by detectives from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. Investigators from the Forensic Services Unit responded to the area to collect and preserve physical evidence in support of the investigation.
Initial investigation indicates Reid, who does not live at the location, got into a verbal altercation with his girlfriend, who resides at the location. Another resident of the location, identified as Jordan Ellison, 27, became involved in the verbal altercation and Reid physically assaulted him. During the struggle Ellison, fearing for his life, armed himself with a rifle, fired one round that struck Reid in the upper body.
Ellison has not been charged in this case. Charges for second degree assault are pending against Reid and will be pursued upon his release from the hospital.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. There are no further details being released at this time. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 410-836-5442.
